Be Sure to Read the Following Information Before Booking an Appointment
Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a medical procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of the inside of the body. This imaging technique is commonly used to visualize and assess the organs and structures within the body.
During an ultrasound exam, a small handheld device called a transducer is placed on the skin, and a gel is applied to facilitate the transmission of sound waves. The transducer emits sound waves that bounce off internal structures and are then detected by the device. These echoes are converted into real-time images that can be viewed on a monitor.
Sonography is widely employed in various medical fields, including obstetrics and gynecology for monitoring fetal development, reproductive organs and abdominal imaging to examine tissues and structures. Its non-invasive nature, lack of radiation, and ability to provide dynamic, real-time imaging makes sonography a valuable diagnostic tool for healthcare professionals in assessing and diagnosing a wide range of medical conditions.

Introduction:
You’ll be greeted by our friendly staff who will explain the procedure.
Positioning:
You’ll be asked to lie down on the ultrasound bed.
Gel will be applied to your skin to allow the transmission of sound waves.
Transducer Placement:
The sonographer will use a handheld device called a transducer, applying it over the areas being examined.
You might feel slight pressure, however the examination is generally painless.
You may be asked to change positions or hold your breath for some images.
Image Capture:
As the transducer emits sound waves, it captures echoes bouncing off internal structures.
